Saw the new Captain America movie today. The movie was good, a lot - TopicsExpress

Saw the new Captain America movie today. The movie was good, a lot of action and things blowing up. The really important thing from this movie is the strong anti-authoritarian message it promotes. This does not happen very often in major Hollywood releases. The last example I remember was Oblivion. Robert Redford does a great job as a true authoritarian. He takes the position that people will give up their freedoms for the ability to feel secure. We can already see this happening in America: the desperate attempt by our leaders to get rid of the 2nd Amendment, the complete and total loss of privacy with groups like the NSA listening to whoever they please, the presumption of being a terrorist by the TSA and their illegal and selective searches, the people in Boston applauding the police after being locked down and threatened at gun point as the police illegally did house to house searches. Samuel Jackson did a solid performance as did Chris Evans as Captain America and of course Scarlett Johansson is Scarlett Johansson. There is a major disturbing problem with Nick Fury that would make one question his ability as a spy and the leader of SHIELD. I will not go into that as I do not want to be guilty of a spoiler alert. I went to the 100 show and got in for $4.50.
