Saw this on The View - the problem is, both sides have a point, but they miss certain _KEY_ issues.. yes, there are terms that no decent person uses because we all know that they have been used offensively, but, how are we to keep track of what has been deemed offensive, and how do we process problem words? for instance, the story of the Navaho Code Talkers.. Navaho is a word meaning enemy in Hopi, and _they_, among themselves, are the Dineh... but, how many people have encountered this fact? Did the authors of books about the Code Talkers _mean_ to insult?? Half the English names for our Native tribes are not their own, internal, names, but rather enemy in the language of the neighboring tribe, that we happened to ask...
