Saw this protest sign in a photo just now: If only XX = female - TopicsExpress

Saw this protest sign in a photo just now: If only XX = female and only XY = male then how do you account for XO, XXY, XYY, XXYY, XXXY, XY/XO, XX/XO, XX/XY... OK, Ill bite. Y chromosome in the genotype = genetic male. No Y chromosome in the genotype = genetic female. Might not be a biologically normal or fertile genetic male or genetic female, but still is one or the other. External genitalia have nothing to do with it. An XY male with androgen insensitivity syndrome is an infertile male, for instance. Male vs female having nothing really to do with man vs woman, by the way. You can be an XY male and be considered a woman for social and cultural purposes, because woman is a cultural definition, not a biological one. (If you doubt me: Why is it that in some cultures a human female is considered a woman at age thirteen, or at menarche, while in others she is not a woman til age 18 or 21? Theres no biology involved here. It is entirely a matter of cultural definition. But a human female is ALWAYS female, no matter the age.) I am all for coming up with some kind of identity certificate to use in place of a birth certificate denoting the persons cultural gender if that would make people feel better. I dont think cultural women with Y chromosomes should be considered biological females though. And I think they need to acknowledge that they *dont* have the same background as females born female and living as cultural women. Because, for one example, any idiot can dress up like a woman, pretend to be a woman and wander into a womens bathroom and cause no end of trouble, especially the more tolerant of gender-bending we all become. Eventually, straight men are going to get over their homophobia just enough that such an action will occur to them on a more and more frequent basis. And then we females will be in big trouble. You did notice thats whos doing most of the arguing for being considered the same as the born-as population, right? The MTFs? Some radical feminists have scorned them as typical men trying to bully their way into womens spaces. I wonder if theyre not entirely incorrect. Random shit I think about when I have too much time on my hands.
