Saw this written about my mom today...... Bev Beck, YOU are a trailbrazer for so many young women of SBCSC! You won the first maternaty leave suits so all pregnant teachers could have time off without loosing their jobs! You won the first suit that had to dismiss gender as the key to hiring teachers especially in the area of divers education. You have FOUGht for Teachers rights for 50 some years and continue to serve as a fantastic NEA rep for all of us. Why hasnt James Kapsa put your photo on the WALL of Fame for South Bend Community? You absolutely deserve these kind of accolades! I taught close to you at Jefferson Elementary School and you were not so young then... BUT your mind and heart was young... you searched many ways to meet the needs of all your students! You were on the cutting edge of technology and your must have been in your late 60s then! i WAS IMPRESSED! I was inspired by your spirit, your willingness to help all students.
