Sawa Chauda Agast was much better than Paune Chauda Agast. It was - TopicsExpress

Sawa Chauda Agast was much better than Paune Chauda Agast. It was specially potent because of the Peshawar church blast the same morning. Acting was great this time around, and all three main characters, Jinnah sahab, Bhutto and Jinnah did great renditions. The script had its problems, as in paunae chauda agast, and again at times one felt that there wasnt any real plot. But the delivery was fantastic, and covered up for the flaws in the narrative structure. Art direction and direction were very strong this time, and made the play worth watching. Now onto the politics: There was the usual Punjabi bashing that one has gotten to expect from Anwar Maqsood (as in Paunae Chauda Agast), Bhutto wasnt given as hard a time as Zia, who came out as completely uncharismatic. The Baloch were missing from the equation, as has been the case in national discourse in Pakistan, and they needed to be represented, so that Bhutto could answer for his actions in Balochistan. Anwar goes soft on Imran Khan, even though he takes a stick to his "burger" supporters. Please go and watch if you havent as yet. Worth the time spent in the hall.
