[Sawiness] [2015] Love is the Trojan horse that everyone lets - TopicsExpress

[Sawiness] [2015] Love is the Trojan horse that everyone lets in. At first it seems harmless, but once it gets through, theres no saying just how much trouble it could cause. Not even Phoebus Apollo, the god of truth and prophecy, could predict the tragedy of his romances. Apollo first fell in love the same way most people do: unintentionally. When Apollo reprimanded Eros, Eros responded by drawing two arrows: one made of gold and one made of lead. With the golden arrow Eros shot Apollo, and with the lead arrow he shot the nymph Daphne. Apollo was left with intense love towards Daphne, while Daphne felt intense hatred towards Apollo. Despite this, Apollo continued to pursue Daphne, as he spoke of his undying love for her, pledged his heart, and offered all that he was. None of that could stop Daphne from running. Finally, Apollo caught up with her. But so disgusted was she by the notion of love that she begged her father to turn her into a laurel tree. In the end, Daphne was not repulsed by the man who pursued her, but by the idea of ever loving someone. I am all too familiar with this story. No, not because I read it somewhere before but because I have gone through the exact same thing myself. Its a silly thing, really. The relentless pursuit. The persistence. The hope that theres a perfect combination of words which could maybe, just maybe, make her feel the same way. But in the end, there was no perfect combination. The only fruits of my labor were failure, and the sinking feeling of losing something that was never mine. But the difference between me and Apollos story is that Apollo learned to move on. He was resilient. It is his resilience, his capacity to lift himself and rise up no matter how far down hes gone that I hope to have. Apollo would later on become a great god who was well loved by all, even though he had a few heartbreaks along the way. But a broken heart never stopped Apollo, and I wont let it stop me either. -The Unwanted
