Say NO to Tuhoronuku! To my Ngati Manu, Te Kapotai and Ngati Hine - TopicsExpress

Say NO to Tuhoronuku! To my Ngati Manu, Te Kapotai and Ngati Hine whanau (including our whanau in Australia) Tūhoronuku has submitted a Deed of Mandate to the Crown for consideration. IF the Crown approves the mandate, Tūhoronuku can say that it can speak for ALL NGĀPUHI and all hapū, marae and claims in Ngāpuhi. It will give Tūhoronuku the authority to settle fully and finally ALL of our Tiriti o Waitangi claims with the Crown. Many hapū, marae, whānau and claimants do not support Tūhoronuku and believe their structure and processes are flawed. Tūhoronuku (and the Crown) refuse to listen and properly resolve the issues. Everyone can help oppose Tuhoronuku by making the following submission; Submission Te Rōpū o Tūhoronuku Deed of Mandate In September 2011, 5210 individuals gave their mandate to Tūhoronuku to represent them in negotiations for settlement of all Ngāpuhi Crown breaches and grievances of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As the Government is now advertising nationwide for Submissions on the Tūhoronuku Deed of Mandate, I hereby submit: The above number of votes does not constitute overwhelming support for Tuhoronuku to hold a mandate to settle all claims for all Ngapuhi. It should not bind other individuals, whanau, hapu or claimants who oppose the mandate. The several processes that have been undertaken to try and resolve issues between those opposing the mandate and Tuhoronuku have not resolved my concerns. The amended Deed of Mandate does not strengthen the fundamental flaws in the mandate in that it still fails to support hapu mana and rangatiratanga as guaranteed in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The hapū majority voice in the new structure is undermined by the nomination, election and replacement, accountability and dispute resolution processes. The negotiation process will potentially undermine the current Waitangi Tribunal Stage 2 Hearing process which is underway. There is no ability for any Hapu or collective(s) of Hapu to withdraw from the mandate - this is opposed. Tuhoronuku do not represent ALL OF NGAPUHI! I DO NOT SUPPORT the Tuhoronuku Deed of Mandate Name Address Date Signature Please post this Submission to the Director, Office of Treaty Settlements, SX 10111, WELLINGTON, or by fax to 04 494 9801 or by email to [email protected].
