Say youre proud to be Samoan born and raised when I say during cyclone season back home is not as scary because you get to.... 1. Play hide and go seek in your house with ur siblings (remember Viellani & Punialavaa) 2. Entertain yourselves by making up scary stories 3. Didnt care if there was no t.v because you get to make your own plays and play dress up with your parents wardrobe (& not get a hiding for it lol) 4. Have to sneak out to the outside kitchen to watch someone try make fire to boil water for drinking. 5. Having to shower outside under a siga from the side of the house, or a kage 6. Play whos the tough guy by not being the first to cringe when pouring wax from candle on the finger lol 7. Having sleepless night because you are more worried of Akoloas (centipede) than the storm itself (aye Eni) And last yet the least, like one storm in 1990 or 1991 (bloody heck cant remember, Im getting old lol) that left Samoa devastated, I remember going with my dad and brothers with two other youth boys who were about 16-18 years to asiasi. My dad made sure we made it to every family in the village to see how they were. After finding out that some families were in a bad situation, he came and opened the FALESA, YES the church building and moved most of them in it :) throughout the storm the village people whose homes were badly damaged stayed there until the storm passed :) one old lady cried because my dad and them had to carry her to safety :) and he and mom would visit them everyday to see how they were :) I have so many great memories of so many storms in Samoa, so Lusi, has NOTHING over Cyclone Val, Cyclone Ofa etc So in saying all that, you definitely know youre FOB (so Im labeled by most SAMOANS here lol) and have lived thru cyclones in Samoa when you get excited about it Lolz........Im not excite hehehe Manuia le aso ma alofagia e le Atua ma malupuipuia I tatou, fa soifua lau Alu ile bingo hehehe
