Saying Happy Thanksgiving to our students after class today and watching them leave our warm, homey studio made me realize how thankful I am for Yoga for You, the wonderful Y4U community and our awesome studio space and wall rope system! As we head into holiday mode I will be using the ropes to teach chest opening poses that are the antidote for restrictive winter clothing, arm loads of packages and tension in the upper back, neck and shoulders which sometimes accompanies the holiday season :) One year, my father-in-law gave us a jacuzzi tub that he either “found”, bought on the cheap or took as a barter for some job or another. It was huge, had gold fixtures and was the shade we used to call “dusty rose”. Not having an appropriate space, we kept this thing in an unfinished corner of the basement and forgot about it until one year, during the parents day Thanksgiving feast at our daughters’ preschool, we looked up at the handprint turkeys displayed on the wall with sentiments written inside by the teachers. To the question “what are you thankful for?” our daughters response written in the middle of her little handprint; “I am thankful for the jacuzzi in the corner of my basement.” We eventually sold our dusty rose jacuzzi for $25 to a guy who just wanted it for the motor but the story is fresh in my mind today as I think about all the simple things I am grateful for this week, such as this sweet memory and my father-in-laws surplus gifts. Here is a beautiful link to a short meditation on gratefulness. As life speeds up this week and we head into the holidays, I hope you will keep your yoga practice on your priority list. The best time to practice yoga is when you don’t have the time! Happy Thanksgiving! Peace and All Good -donna https://youtube/watch?v=3Zl9puhwiyw
