Saying Im sorry you feel that way is a very passive-aggressive way - TopicsExpress

Saying Im sorry you feel that way is a very passive-aggressive way to apologize. What youre actually saying is that Ive done nothing wrong, and youre entirely to blame for this, yet youre expecting me to apologize. It is a way to apologize, yet not take any responsibility for your actions and to blame the person that feels wronged by you. It is done knowing that it will not make the recipient of the apology feel better, but is purely done for the sake of the person making the apology, to prevent them from having to take ownership of their mistakes. And if you think this post is directed at you ... Im sorry you feel that way :P (Yes, I do have the tendency to say stuff to the effect of Im sorry you feel that way to people who take the hostile things I say the wrong way (or even the right way). I know why Im doing it. Im protecting myself and my feelings, and it is selfish of me. And I am honest enough that I know exactly why I am doing in that way. I can be an asshole sometimes. But I am blunt and honest. I will often say things which people prefer to remain unsaid. Such as the logic behind the very commonly uttered Im sorry you feel that way apology. Honesty can be a curse.)
