Says Gabriel Gudding: Casey Kasem, who died yesterday, was a longtime vegan and critic of animal farming of all kinds. He quit the Scooby Doo Show in 1995 when they told him Shaggy, whose voice he performed, was to do a commercial for Burger King. Kasem refused to return to the show until they made Shaggy a vegetarian (the first cartoon character to be vegetarian). In 1989 the LA Times sd Kasem was “more likely to be listening to a speech by Malcolm X on his cassette player than music by Miami Sound Machine.
