Scam Alert From a Reader - SCAM ALERT!! My 71-year-old neighbor received a call on her landline this morning from the Bowie County Sheriffs Dept., saying that her husband had outstanding warrants. A police officer would be at their house within the hour to arrest him unless she went to CVS and paid nearly $1000 cash for (2) separate green dot cards in the amounts of $499.31 and $499.79. She was then to drive directly to New Boston to meet the clerk at the Sheriffs Dept annex. Luckily, the clerk at CVS on Richmond Rd. (Tammy Meadows) struck up a conversation with my neighbor and told her that it sounded like a scam. She told my neighbor to return home and immediately telephoned the Bowie County Sheriffs Dept. A report has been filed and a patrol car is staked out in front of her house, but this sweet lady is severely shaken. Please share with those you know and love in Bowie County. This is scary stuff!
