Scam alert !! Dear Dr Lee, My sister have received an SMS and when she clicked on it, there was a NTUC message saying that she has won NTUC voucher and that to redeem it, she needs to entered her number. As she thought that NTUC is reliable so she entered her mobile number and well of course she did not received any vouchers but instead she received a $10 charge from her mobile service provider bill the following month. She has already opt for non advertisement under her mobile and hence she wanted me to alert you on this matter as 1) it is not right to use the neighborhood well known super mart name NTUC to conned resident, NTUC will lost it good reputation when some ignorance resident thought it is really NTUC piece of work and start to spread around indicating that NTUC is so vicious nowadays. 2) some people might think that alas only $10, forget about it, imagine one resident $10, when it hit a hundred residents, the amount can be...wow. 3) not every one is okay with paying $10, to some $10 can do a lot when it comes to their daily expenses, but will the mobile company assist to investigate such matters, answer no. Maybe you can bring awareness to residents that should anyone received message as below, DO NOT CLICK This is how the message looks like:- You received (1) new photo message. Click here to see me! bit.ly/1mell1o I have not known who actually sent this message to her and if you wants the detail i will gather more information from her. Thanks and do hope no one will get conned again.
