Scam alert to all my friends with children and grand children. Im in Manitoba with my father. This morning someone claiming to be his grand daughter (my niece) phoned and asks for money to bail her out of jail. On the speakerphone, three of us (Dad, myself, Sue) all agree its her voice. She also has VERY private information about ALL of us that few people outside the immediate family would know. She needs $2495.00 RIGHT NOW to get her out of jail. Poppabear wisely tell her to talk to her mom, and have her mom get back to us. She then hangs up on us. After the swearing, yelling, phone calls to absolutely everybody, including trying to find which police station shes at, false accusations, and damn near killing Poppabear and myself and her mom with stress, elevated blood pressure, and heart failure, it turns out it WAS NOT her. People listen closely; Three relatively sane and intelligent people listening on a speakerphone heard a voice that was a dead ringer for the girl, stating very personal and private information that was supposedly known and could be reasonably assumed only a privileged few would be privy having access. In a third call to the police, we were in informed this scam has been going on consistently, with the most recent example in the Peg literally yesterday. Warn whoever you know that this crap is going on RIGHT NOW, and the level of sophistication and access to what should be personal and private information is absolutely astounding. Peace, people. Glen
