Scammer are still out there for small business so beware! Today I got a call about my advert in the Australian Defence Force Magazine asking me to confirm my details, which would be ok but for the fact I never authorised one. This is the most common style of scams. As for the Australian Defence Force Magazine, as far as I can see, does not exist. However there is one called Australian Defence Magazine. This mag does not take paid adverts instead the offer free advertising to charitable organisation of FREE. Close name but not close enough! Ive been through this before so be aware of the routine! It can also start with some apparently well known organization looking for small businesses to advertise in their magazines for a small cost of around $300 or so. On the face they look legit. They may even offer to send you out a copy of the mag before they run the publication make any adjustment at this time and then ask you to pay after changes have been made. The Mags look like the real thing but there not! Mags to watch out for are Work Place The Volunteer Rescue Magazine Safety Lines Apprenticeships & Traineeships in Australia and even some Police Mags as well plus more. If you get these calls or some other unsolicited call, just tell them to bugger off and hang up. There is so much more I could go on about but I hope you get the jest of it! If you have had these call and paid money, I suggest you contact the ACCC and report the matter. Cheers All :)
