Scary sight in Hermosa Beach today: car door swings open and hits cyclist, who falls to ground in the middle of busy Hermosa Ave. and cant get up. Luckily, its a red light and no cars coming by. I stand in middle of road to stop traffic, and we try to get the guy to move; call 911. Luckily, more folks arrive to help--and the man stands up within about 2 minutes. His first words: Hows my bike? What happened to him is my worst nightmare--and why I usually cycle on the Strand!
