Scene FM 700 and N. Highway 87 near Big Spring where a fuel truck rolled over in the 3 pm hour. At 5:30 pm 87 remained closed to all traffic while a large spill of ethenol could be addressed. Cause of the vehicle rollover is not known, but the driver is ok we are told. But because of about 3,000 gallons of flammable material on the ground, special care is being taken to insure there is no fire started. No fires at the time of this report (5:30 pm), but one official on the scene tells KBYG News that it may be several hours before traffic will be allowed to move along N. 87 tonight. Currently these entities are known to be on the site: City of Big Spring, Howard County, DPS, Howard County Emergency Management, TCEQ, and some commercial cleanup crews. No reports of injury or danger to residents in the immediate area of this fuel spill. The tanker held about 7,600 gallons, and appears to have lost about half of its cargo in the accident. We do not know the name of the driver or which company owns the tanker. -Mike Henry
