Scenes from Bogotà: pitayas are like the dragon fruit I tasted in - TopicsExpress

Scenes from Bogotà: pitayas are like the dragon fruit I tasted in Southern China, only much sweeter. I cant have enough of them. Arepas are a kind of fluffy round bread made from maize. It is stuffed with just about any kind of protein (cheese, meat, chicken) and sold just with the protein stuffing: unlike the Greek, Turkish and Middle Eastern gyros/dürüm/shawarma, no vegetables, pickles or sauces enrich the arepa. Just the protein. Btw, a lesbian woman is called arepera in Colombian slang for the same obvious reason shes called tortillera in Mexico, bollera in Spain and cachapera in Venezuela (cachapas being some kind of maize cookies, similar to arepas). Avocados can be gigantic in Colombia, never seen such big babies like these ones before. Those round, green fruits are mamoncillos. They are sweet and flesh in the inside pretty much like lychees. Only that theyre not lychees. They are mamoncillos.
