Schadenfreude is a German word i came across today and I - TopicsExpress

Schadenfreude is a German word i came across today and I immediately thought of how many of us react to others in their times of distress. Simply put Schadenfreude means to delight in anothers misfortune. Not only have i been through it at various points in life but i was brought up by my mother to never take delight in the misfortune of others. Life is not about today and the World is indeed round (what goes around invariably comes back). It is important to concentrate on our lives and plans and less on other peoples! Perhaps this quotation from Saskya Pandita might help - Much talking is the cause of danger. Silence is the means of avoiding misfortune. The talkative parrot is shut up in a cage. Other birds, without speech, fly freely about.
