School Football came alive this week in Ondo city when at the newly refurbished City Stadium,the states oldest school,Ondo Boys High school trashed Celestial Grammar school by 1-0 scored via a penalty kick taken by Adeyosoye Bismark in the 17th minute of the first half. It was the final match of the Late Chief Stella Olufunke Adeyeye Cup tournament,an 11 year-old-competition organized by Diamond Club of Ondo and sponsored by the children of the late eminent and philanthropist Ondo woman of substance who died on the 19th of January 2003. Other Highlights of the occasion are: * Winners OBHS received a golden trophy,set of jerseys,22 pairs of boots & shin guards and N100,000 cash. * Runners-up,Celestial Grams received a silver trophy,set of jerseys,22 pairs of boots & shin guards and N50,000 cash. *Man of the match,Akindolure Seun (Celestial goal keeper) got N10,000 cash. * Remigius Akinbinu was the match commentator. * Dignitaries present were Dr. Ajibayo Adeyeye,majority leader Lagos House of Assembly, Mr. Kunle Adeyeye,UK based Pharmacist,Oil magnate Otunba Bola Adeyeye,Dr. Deji Adeyeye,Mr. Dapo Adeyeye Mr. Tokunbo Adeyeye (Biggie),Dr. Wole Ige (CMD Trauma centre) Oil mongul Peter Akinmade, Mr. Akinrimisi Gregory (a top civil servant who played for St. Josephs college in 1976) veteran football Mr. Fadoju Moses among others. * The stadium was filled to capacity * Branded exercise books were given to school pupils who attended. * * *With this 11th edition, the Tournament which has produced an international star like Godfrey Oboabona who played for St. James school Ondo,has become an enduring legacy, great monument in honour of a great woman and a formidable avenue for Catching em young and the development of school football.
