School Weekly Report Primary Class Sept. 16 -21, 2013 We have been busy learning about zebras this week. We know that o two zebra stripes are the same and that they are plant eaters – herbivores. We also know that when zebras chew so much grass they might lose their teeth but it’s not a problem for them. They just grow a new one! For craft we made giraffes and next week we will do monkeys. On Friday we put our cooking skills to the test. We made carrot cake and frosted it. It was good fun. Lower primary – We learnt a new counting song called 5 little ducks. It was fun learning 1 – 5 with the help of ducks and also talking about zero. We know that zero is nothing. During language time we learnt the beginning sounds of our names and we are slowly learning to recognize them. Upper primary - This week we concentrated on number counting 1 -50 again and practiced number tracing. We have also practiced our scissor skills in the afternoon. We are exploring the continents on our Montessori map and have made a map of the continents this week. We are happy to introduce our new MUSIC TEACHER Tomas. Tomas plays piano and graduated at Academy of Performing Arts, Prauge in 2006. He has been teaching for more than 10 years. He speaks English and Czech. We will have music lessons with Tomas every Monday morning. We are planning a TRIP TO PUMPKIN FARM Farm at Bykoš on Friday, Sept. 27th. The farm is located 30 km from Prague. We will travel by private bus leaving the school at 9.00 am and returning for lunch. The cost will be 300 Kc per child. This includes transportation, a snack, journey through corn maze and a small pumpkin to bring home. Please pay 300 Kc to Jana by Sept.27th. We are happy to announce that NUTRITIONIST Kelly Fraser will be here on Wednesday, September 25th at 2.30 pm. The workshop is for all parents who want to know how to encourage positive eating habits in their children. Please sign up on the School Board if you wish to attend this workshop.
