According to a press release by the Virginia State Police, the Journal has learned that Cletus W. Kennedy, 59, of the 200 block of Meadow Avenue, Colonial Beach, VA, was charged with two felony counts of Obtaining Money by False Pretense (18.2-178) and three felony counts of Trademark Infringement (59.1-92.12). Kennedy was arrested in Warsaw following a state police investigation at the Warsaw Flea Market. Kennedy was arraigned in Richmond County General District Court, August 2, 2013. The arrest occurred at the Warsaw Flea Market located at 15683 Historyland Highway in Richmond County, during an execution of a search warrant by special agents with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation shortly after 9 am. July 30, 2013. Sargent Thomas J. Molnar said in a press release, “This enforcement effort is the result of an active and ongoing investigation into property crimes involving the selling of counterfeit and pirated goods at the Warsaw Flea Market. Seven people have been arrested on 52 felony charges involving these intellectual property crimes. The 52 felony charges include three warrants for recorded devices to show true name of manufacturer, seven warrants for obtaining money by false pretense, 14 warrants for infringement and 28 warrants for selling or renting certain recorded devises.
