School starts back for the Byng district in 13 days. Wow, where has summer gone? I’ll tell you where much of ours has gone and it’s been out the exhaust of our vehicles. Good grief, to have not taken a “big” family vacation, we have logged the miles this summer. I think there have been over 9 trips to OKC for various reasons not to mention Muskogee, McAlester, and who can forget going to Denny. This doesn’t count all the tons of short trips to dance, cheer, swim, ranch camp, VBS, CSAA, sleepovers, gym, parkour, the library (I was mistaken earlier about the library), funerals, friends houses, and of course Wal-Mart. Am I complaining? I’m not complaining for one second. We had an awesome summer break packed with good activities and learning that involved lots of family time and quality time. As the end of summer vacation draws near, I hope we approach our new school year not with dread, but with a great attitude and hungry brains to learn much. I pray we recognize the opportunities that will definitely be present to show love, kindness, and respect to others around us. Every day is a day to do these things of course, but as teachers, students, and even parents prepare for 2014-15, I encourage us to engage every day with a sense of purpose and meaning. After all, God did create us for a purpose, which I believe is to honor Him and not live in dread and fear. So, on Friday August 1st, 2014, I say enjoy, be thankful, and live all seasons of life on purpose for our Creator God. Happy Friday, God bless, & Roll On!!
