School starts soon again. I can’t believe how fast summer went by. I hope for a great year, a year of growth –personally and professionally, and most of all to remember the environment I am returning to concerning parents and students: *Parents who will blame teachers for how their children perform and behave, who will attack personally without looking at their own lives and parenting. *That young people think it’s their job to push your buttons. *To be careful with what is said and done in front of kids since kids learn by examples. *To remember that there are great parents. *To be compassionate because most families have it rough. *Absences are going to happen, lots of them. *That while we teach kids academics, they teach us about life. *That the population is diverse. *Time becomes a commodity once again. *To remember that I can’t own anybody’s actions/feelings. I can’t solve all the problems. *Keep my students in my personal prayer life. * I maybe the only GPS they know this year. *Be consistent with rules and boundaries. *To help students be responsible for their actions and behaviors. *To have lots of patience. Their pre-teen years have begun. *Show them respect so they can give it back in due time. *I am not their parent. *Share your happiness with them. It might be the only one they know. *………….., etc.
