Science Daily 9 May 2014 The promise of purple for enhanced bioimaging It was reported that an international team led by Associate Professor Liu Xiaogang from the Department of Chemistry at the NUS Faculty of Science, who is also with the A*STAR Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, has discovered a novel class of rare-earth nanocrystals that preserve excited energy inside their atomic framework, resulting in unusually intense violet emissions.
