Science & Spirit CHAPTER 10 - Waves Our universe is able to be expressed in the form of waves; through frequency, intensity, and shape. In physics, a wave is an oscillation that travels through space and matter, accompanied by a transfer of energy. Mechanical waves propagate through a medium, and the substance of the medium is deformed, such as the ripples of a pond, the vibrations of a string, or the collision of air molecules to produce sound. Electromagnetic waves such as light and radiation do not require a medium, and can travel through a vacuum at the speed of light; about 300 million meters per second, or six hundred and seventy-one million miles per hour. Gravitational waves are ripples in the curvature of space-time, caused by the presence of mass, such as orbiting neutron stars. Gravitational waves also traveling at the speed of light and do not require a medium. They also can distort time and space, something referred to as gravitational lensing. Life itself can be expressed as a wave, with individuals represented as variations in frequency, intensity and shape based on their timelines. When two waves of any form are synchronized, the resulting unified wave is amplified in intensity. Within life, this could be referred to as love. Should the way form of 2 individuals be almost but not perfectly in sync, and may diminish in time. It may fade slowly, and the two grow apart over time. Or it may fade quickly and return, resulting in an on-off emotional bond. Time waves are patterns of events that occur within time. Time waves exist in a variety of scales from the very small, such as moments in the daily life of an individual, to the very large, tracing back to the origin of the universe. The entirety of the universe may have evolved within a grand cosmic schedule, initiating evolutionary leaps and mass extinctions at specific predetermined points within time. Not everything that happens in our lives are accidents. There is so much we see that seems to have a greater purpose the universe is really so lazy as to allow for coincidence. Maybe we are too close to the story to see it as it is written, but it shows itself in time. Regarding life as a wave, it is also true that as we grow over time, our waves change as well. To those who may not have compatible waves in one moment, may grow enough to become a perfect sync over time. There is one for everyone. Too many mistakes this to mean there is only one perfect match for all of us. There exist many, and when you find one, they will become all you require, the only one you need. There is no race, it is best to keep the heart and mind open. Finding the one is not about what you see with and someone else, but how you feel about yourself in their presence. Once one is found, you will feel at home, even when they are not around.
