Scientists have debated a week ago about who were the very first Eskimos to migrate to the Artic-Americas. The Paleo-Eskimos showed up first, with the Neo-Eskimos appearing nearly 4,000 years later. The Paleo-Eskimos exhibited a variety of distinct cultures. The Saqqaqs lived in tent camps and chased caribou and seals. Succeeding them were walrus hunters called Dorsets and lastly came the Thules, whole hunters who sailed in large skin boats. A large international team that was led by Eske Willerslev from the University of Copenhagen collected preserved bones, teeth and hair samples of 169 ancient humans form Artic-Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland, and then analyzed their own mitochondrial DNA!
