Scientists think they are close to "erasing death." The problem - TopicsExpress

Scientists think they are close to "erasing death." The problem lies in the natural degradation of human tissues at roughly one hundred to one hundred twenty five years of age. This leaves two options: farm organs, which due to the breakdown of other tissues likely will not work, or transmute human consciousness onto an artificial vessel. The question is, is a replica of your consciousness truly you? Is another being who shares your memories and personality truly capable of the same vein of sentience, realization and identity? Would it even be possible to split a mind/soul into two corporeal beings? Is this theory of a sort of hive mind even practical, or possible? I for one do not think so. Discuss.
