Score update for the Under 15s this week v Golden Grove @ Harpers Field oval. Richard DeCrea lost his first toss for the season and we had to bowl. It was actually a good one to loose as the pitch only had 3 patches of grass on it and was hard as a rock but far from the awesome pitches that we have become accustomed to at home. The bounce was all over the place and it showed when they batted. Our opening pair of Henry Bear Eberhard & Ben Press came out all guns blazing with only 6 runs coming from the first 4 overs and Henry unlucky when a plum LBW and a slewed off drive behind being given not out with in 3 balls. It was the 7th over before Ben got the first break through as Tyler Baker took a neat catch behind. Ben had another wicket in his next over and GG were 2/23 after 9 overs. Henry was stiff again as he watched the last ball of his spell get top edged over slip down to the fence for 4. Ben finished the day with 2/16 from 6 overs while Henry had 0/23. Nathan Burgess was solid and claimed 1/14 from 6 when Ashwin took a good catch just forward of square. Corbin Watson bowled well for his 3 overs and managed a c&b to end with 1/9. Daniel Toy claimed a wicket just before tea. A good catch by Burgo at slip and GG were 5/115 at the break. Patrick Edwards continued after the break with instant success as he grabbed a good c&b and ended with a wicket maiden. Tyler took the pads off to bowl and bowled a couple of tight overs. But it was Patty with the figures of the day, 3/18 from 5.3 as he cleaned up the last 2 as Henry held a catch at cover and Burgo took a blinder at first slip to leave GG all out for 123 after 34.3 overs. Patrick Edwards ended on a hat trick next time he bowls. We had to bat for 26 overs to finish the day. Richie middled a couple early and was looking good while Ben kept rotating the strike. When a low dart cut back into Richies middle peg we were 1/18. Tyler came in next and got busy. Ben was still hitting them well and was looking to get after the bowling until he too got one that cut back sharply and stayed down on the up and down pitch. He was Bowled for 24. 2/67 in the 17th over. Callum Harrison was next in as we changed the batting order a fraction. It paid off too as Tyler and Callum began to find the boundary with ease after some questionable field placings by the GG coach. 6 on the off side and 1 on the on side when the bowlers are spraying them every which way didnt help their cause. At the end of the days play Tyler and Callum had carried our total to 2/175 with Tyler 86* and Callum 25*. An awesome effort toady lads. Lets hope we can play next week and its not too hot. Hope to see you all at training on Friday.
