Scored free tickets to see a sneak preview of Calvary last night. It might have helped if I had known ahead of time what the word Calvary meant. It was fun to meet the Lab Rat after work for a Tuesday night out--but, the movie? Thumbs down in spite of the rave reviews. Depressing. Dysfunctional. Demoralizing. Dismal. Deadly. I wasnt bored, but I left empty-handed. A few people walked out. Most left scratching their heads, What was that supposed to be about? This review sheds some light, tinyurl/m6flqyf but I disagree with the reviewer who said, Even if you are neither Catholic nor Irish, this “Calvary” will in no way be a useless sacrifice of your moviegoing time. It will give you plenty to talk about--trying to figure out the point of it all. Anyone see it?
