Scorpion 1859 For Sale 1859 is a Turner built in 1982 but following an extensive refit and re-finish in early 2009 is essentially a new boat. The decks and interior were re-finished by Paintcraft to Nigels usual incredible standard and, at the same time, Nigel also replaced all the running rigging and pretty much all the cleats, blocks, jammers etc using the same quality fittings that he uses on new builds. The boat was, of course, originally a chute boat but Nigel has fitted kite baffles and a ‘one-pump’ spinnaker halyard system, bringing it bang up to date in terms of the competitive fit-outs in the fleet today. After the boat came back from Paintcraft, the outside of the hull was re-painted then wet-sanded and polished to a super-slick, high shine finish. She also had new spars in 2009 – Superspars mast and boom (the boom has the cut-away aft end and the mainsheet runs inside the boom) and a Speedsails spinnaker pole. The rig is fully raking and was calibrated by Nigel. The boat comes with two suits of sails – one OK and one good – and two rudders/stocks. One is the rudder the boat came with (a long blade…probably from a 505) but has a new stock and tiller. The second is a shorter custom made Paintcraft blade (about two years old) which is more manageable on inland waters. Both rudders are lifting and the Paintcraft blade has a carbon tiller extension. The boat also comes with a Speedsails combi trailer/trolley She also has an under-cover (Speedsails) and two breathable flat top covers – one that came with the boat (tired but still functional) and a Speedsails cover. The boat has always been over-wintered in dry storage. The boat is currently near Macclesfield, Cheshire. I am reluctantly selling her as my time is taken up transporting my son on the Laser circuit. £2,350.00 ono
