Scotland has made history today, not in the way that I would have - TopicsExpress

Scotland has made history today, not in the way that I would have preferred it to but a historical moment nonetheless. The nation as a whole decided contrary to what I think is best yet I dont feel defeated in any way and the reason is not just because my home city voted in favour of independence but the reason goes far beyond that; we may have lost out on independence but we gained a lot as well - our spirits remain undefeated. A spectacular 45% voted to rid us of the Westminster elite force, aka the government, and from this we can rest assured that as a nation we have become more politically aware and more importantly our awareness of the greatness of our nation and its resources has increased. For over a decade it has been a wonderful journey, working alongside Alex Salmond and the rest of the team to bring a better future for our people. His resignation, about which Im deeply saddened, is not the end of this dream and hope for the nation but rather it is the new chapter for bigger and better things to come. I believe yesterday we laid the foundations for a better Scotland to come by showing Westminster that our confidence has grown and we can challenge them; we may not have won this time round but we didnt lose either. I would like to thank everybody who has helped make this campaign such a success and I know that my late friend MSP Bashir Ahmed will be looking down proudly upon all of us.
