Scott White tagged me. God, what could he possibly not know about me? Digging deep.... 1. I once took a fist to the stomach in a locker room brawl. Ahem. In fourth grade, another little girl at my private primary school took exception to my penchant for grandiose self-expression and for correcting other people’s grammar, and punched me. This proves either that natural peer feedback can help appropriately socialize a truly irritating little twit, or that I have been wounded in the war for words. Either way, I switched schools for fifth grade. 2. I have Theories About Things. These range from tentative political ideas to the nearly dogmatic parenting ones. I try very hard to keep them to myself. It’s my deep suspicion of received wisdom that led me to develop theories in the first place, after all. Also, the “you ought to” and “let me tell you” types annoy me. But ideas excite me, and self-control is hard. Maybe someone should punch me.
