Brechin High School failed to progress from the group stages finishing just outside the qualifying places 3rd in their group. Forfar Academy - Hailey Duff (FYC) Skip, Craig Paterson (FYC) 3rd, Bruce Keillor (FYC) 2nd, Ewan Maguire (FYC) won 3 of their group games vs. Stranraer Academy (3) 9-4, won against Beath High School by an amazing scoreline of 22-1, vs. Mearns Castle High School 13-4, and lost 2 games vs. Kelso High School 6-4, vs. Dumfries Academy 8-3. Forfar Academy qualified 2nd in their group for the Quarter Finals. In the Quarter Finals Forfar Academy won against the St Josephs College team, skipped by Zac Stewart. 8-6 with a big steal of 3 in the 6th end making the difference. The semi final was all Forfar Academy as they dominated Mary Erskine School, skipped by Naomi Brown winning 9-1 in 7 ends. The Final was a cagey affair on tricky ice. Lockerbie Academy (2) got off to a good start scoring two with hammer in the 1st end. Forfar were forced to take 1 in the 3rd after a blanked 2nd. In the 4th end Lockerbie took a single to lead 3-1 at the half way stage. The big shot of the game came in the 5th end with Hailey needing to hit her own stone on to an opposition counter to remove it from play to score 3, but unfortunately it was a little wide, and on unforgiving ice, never made the curl necessary resulting in a steal of 1. Singles were exchanged in 6 and 7th ends, to leave Forfar Academy needing an unlikely 3 in the last end. Lockerbie were clinical and ran Forfar Acdemy out of stones to win the title. Well done Forfar Academy on winning the Silver Medal in this national competition.
