Scout Families, Its’ with both a joyous and sad heart that I have news to relate to you about one of our Scouting Moms, Nicki Morton. The quick, sad news, is that she was involved in a very serious auto accident late Friday afternoon near Hartland, where a pickup-truck crossed-over the center line and hit her head-on while driving her Honda Civic. After being flight-for-life’d to Froedtert, where she remained in critical, but stable condition throughout yesterday, she underwent a long orthopedic surgery today. Now the quick good news, her husband Jake, has indicated that she came through the surgery with good expectations for what was addressed. Nicki and Jake are the parents to our Wolf Scout, Tyler, in 2nd grade, while their oldest child Brooklyn is in 3rd grade at Madison Elementary, with a younger child, Sadie, also in 1st grade at Madison, and their youngest, Jackson, having yet to join the Madison family. Being very active with their children, you may have also noticed Nicki participating in many PTA events also. We know that Jake and Nicki have already received extensive prayers, well wishes, and offers of assistance, and he has expressed his gratitude with the responses. Unfortunately, Jake has also stated that Nicki’s severe injuries … unfortunately, more than is mentioned above … will take a great deal of time and effort to recover and rehabilitate from. With the greatest of the Morton family’s immediate needs being met by their network of family, church members, and close friends, the best short term efforts that may be provided are your encouragement, and most important, your prayers. Your Scout Leaders ask, that in your own way, to please keep the Morton family close to your heart, thoughts, and faith … wishing them the easiest and quickest recovery that may come. We may make efforts in the future to provide additional, more tangible, assistance to the Morton’s, and we will likely coordinate with the PTA group to accomplish that. We will certainly attempt to provide you good-news updates about the Morton’s as they progress. We hope your summer has been enjoyable and fruitful, and that the upcoming school year provides much growth and success. Additional Cub Scout information will follow in upcoming emails.
