Scriptings recommends in London: Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts A discussion featuring artist Richard Demarco and Antony Hudek. whitechapelgallery.org Launching the facsimile edition of Robert Fillious Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts, first published in 1970, the evening features a Skype conversation with Clive Robertson, who worked extensively with Filliou, recordings of Fillious performance-lecture, The Gong Show, and a presentation by artist Richard Demarco, followed by an in conversation with co-founder of Occasional Papers Antony Hudek. Richard Demarco CBE, OBE, is Professor of European Cultural Studies at Kingston University, co-founder of The Traverse Theatre Club, Edinburgh, and director of the Official Edinburgh Festival contemporary art exhibitions 1967-1992. A patron of the visual and performing arts, Demarco is a watercolourist, muralist and print maker, and throughout his career has collaborated with Joseph Beuys, Tadeusz Kantor, Paul Neagu, Robert Filliou, and Ian Hamilton Finlay, among others. Clive Robertson is an artist, activist, writer, publisher, musician, producer, teacher and collaborator. He currently teaches cultural theory and performance art at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario. In association with Occasional Papers.
