Scripture: Genesis 33: 4 Scripture Reading: “But Esau ran to - TopicsExpress

Scripture: Genesis 33: 4 Scripture Reading: “But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.” Thought: Jacob and Esau certainly had an intense sibling rivalry. Jacob tricked his father, Isaac, into giving him the spiritual blessing that God’s chosen nation of Israel would go through Jacob, even though Esau was entitled to it since he was the firstborn (but barely, since they were twins). Fearing for his life, Jacob fled and was away from Esau for a long time. The inevitable was about to occur, as they would meet again. Jacob was certainly fearful as Esau approached him, and I’m sure he was shocked when Esau embraced him as a brother should. Reflection 1: Do you guess how others will act instead of letting it happen? Reflection 2: Does this judgment keep you from exploring possible meaningful relationships? Jacob probably avoided Esau longer than he should have and missed out on the meaningful bond that brothers have. Prayer: “Lord, let me leave judgment to you.” Contributor: Mark Wilson, PGA TOUR Professional
