Scripture: Jonah 2:8 (NIV) Scripture Reading: “Those who cling - TopicsExpress

Scripture: Jonah 2:8 (NIV) Scripture Reading: “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.” Thought: Jonah prayed this prayer from inside the belly of a whale. Jonah had clung to the worthless idol of his own plan, his own desires, and his own way. He was an expert in clinging to his own plan and it led him to complete helplessness. His clinging had kept him from grace, grace that could come from a prayer and change of heart. Grace had been there the whole time looking him in the face. God had to force him into the belly of a whale to claim the grace that had been waiting for him. Reflection 1: Dwell on the blessing of a grace-filled mindset for a moment. Reflection 2: What worthless idol is keeping you from this grace? Prayer: “Lord, give me the grace to let go and return to You. I don’t need these idols.” Contributor: Sean McGever, Young Life
