Scripture Reading: New International Version (NIV) Hosea 10:1-3, 7-8, 12 Matthew 10:1-7 From among His many disciples (students) Jesus chose 12 apostles (one who is sent) then sent them on a training mission. This too is the pattern of our spiritual growth. We have been taught the basics of our faith; it is not only for our salvation but also for sharing. We disciples are also expected to be apostles. As our Lord was a missionary, we His followers are are also missionaries. Jesus instructed the OJT apostles, Do not go into foreign territory... Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (their fellow Jews). As you go, announce this: The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Jesus sends us too to train within our own family, neighborhood, school and workplace. It is the nearest training ground to practice kindness, helpfulness, cheerfulness and other virtues that preach Gods lordship in our lives,and that brings a bit of Heaven downtown to earth.
