Scripture says we are in Christ. An illustration about our righteousness is done this way. Suppose there is a piece of paper that is badly soiled. When you look at it, you cant help but see its dirt. Now, fold it up and insert it inside a spotlessly white envelope and seal the envelope. Now, when you look at the sheet of paper, all you see is the flawless, spotless white of the envelope. When we as sinners place our faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit inserts us into the envelope of Jesus Christ. Despite all our dirty sins, when God the Father looks at us, He sees only the flawless, spotless white purity and holiness of Jesus because we are in Christ Jesus our Savior. We could never meet Gods standard for clean purity, but Jesus did so on our behalf. Sealed in Him, we are pure and clean and spotless and holy and righteous. 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 2:12-14 NASB) This illustration is another way of affirming Eternal Security (OSAS). How can God send any believer to Hell for sins when He doesnt see our sins -- He sees Christs sinless perfection. Paul Kocourek
