Scruffy is in foster and available for adoption through All My Tomorrows Pet Rescue. I found him as a stray scrounging for food in front of an empty house in Lockeford. When I went to check on him, he ran to the back porch of that house. At first, he growled at me, and it took a few minutes before I could touch him, but once he decided it was safe, he let me pick him up. There were people there cleaning and fixing after the last tenants had moved, and when I checked with the neighbors, they thought he had been left behind. Fortunately, we are developing more capacity to save lost and abandoned pets in San Joaquin County. I covered initial veterinary care, Sheila offered to foster, and All My Tomorrows is handling neuter, vaccine booster, and his adoption. We need a shelter we can trust to save every healthy and treatable animal. How will we know when we can trust the shelter? More on that later.
