Sea Shepherd Update The Sea Shepherd Conservation Societys - TopicsExpress

Sea Shepherd Update The Sea Shepherd Conservation Societys International summit began yesterday with an opening ceremony by the Mohawk people. The summit is taking place on traditional Iroquois land. About 150 people were there from Brazil, South Africa, Spain, Germany, Australia, Canada, Italy, France, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Sweden, etc. The summit will take place Saturday and Sunday in Vermont. It is an opportunity for Sea Shepherd people to get together to understand that we are a global movement of people dedicated to defending life in our oceans. Meanwhile we have a two Sea Shepherd vessels and crews patrolling the waters off Senegal in search of poachers. We have another crew on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico doing research into toxicity levels in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Our Vortex project to remove plastic from the sea is underway and we have a very large international in the Faeroe Islands to oppose the horrific slaughter of pilot whales. In Western Australia Sea Shepherd continues to oppose the government sponsored shark kill program. Sea Shepherd Italy continues to patrol for poachers in Sicilian marine reserves.
