Seabreeze Beach Hotel Fishing Club Monthly Competition 30th - TopicsExpress

Seabreeze Beach Hotel Fishing Club Monthly Competition 30th November / 1st December This month there were 95 nominations for the Seabreeze Beach Hotel Fishing Club’s competition held on the weekend of 30th November and 1st December. Although not a record breaking amount, but an improvement on last month, 40 kg of fish was weighed-in. Most fishing reports begin with a rundown of the prevailing weather over the weekend. Although most people know what is going on with the weather around the place, there can be a vast difference between what’s happening on land compared to a few kilometres out to sea. Raincoats were a pre-requisite for all who ventured out over the weekend and wished to remain reasonably dry but the inter-play between wind and water became more pronounced away from the shore. Consequently there were not many boats putting to sea and those who did go may have come home wondering why they bothered. Of the keener ones, Steve Grant and Col Barber managed to get a few fish in the boat and were rewarded with a couple of prizes each. Col weighed in a Snapper weighing 750 gms and a Teraglin weighing 1.130 kg., while Steve had a Pearl Perch at 935 gms and was outside Angler of the Month. The inside fisho’s had a little more scope with the river, beaches and headlands producing a few fish each. Kim Hogno utilised all three environments to come up with the biggest Bream at 655 gms and inside Angler of the Month with 5 species. Wendy Halverson scored with a 370 gms Bream and a 365 gms Whiting while husband, Pat, had a nice catch of Whiting with a 370 gms specimen being a winner for him. There were quite a few Dusky Flathead weighed in although Karl Underwood’s 4.990 kg fish was an undisputed winner while Cheryl Barber was happy with her 850 gms specimen. Col Saunders won largest other with a 1.545 kg Belmore River Trevally. While the juniors weren’t too numerous at the weigh-in table, Holly Clark and Daniel Lewis were glad they went fishing. Holly received a prize for her 200 gms Whiting and Daniel Lewis received a prize for his 550 gms Bream and also for Angler of the Month. Daisy Morrison received the Pizza on the Rocks Encouragement Award. A couple of weeks ago the Club held its Christmas Party. Held at Little Bay and blessed by the weather, the event was well attended and everybody had a jolly good time. Coming up on 18th & 19th January will be the Club’s Annual Huge Fishing Competition with $500 for the biggest Snapper and $500 for the biggest Bream plus many other prizes. Entry forms will be available about two weeks before the event. Our next monthly competition will be on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th January. The Club wishes everyone all the best for Christmas and the New Year. Kim Hogno, Publicity Officer
