Sean Ward has been handed a new one year contract - and a cobbles romance. The soap’s top bosses have been so impressed with his portrayal of drug dealer Callum Logan, they have signed him up for another 12 months. And they have also given Callum a new love interest in the shape of Katy Armstrong. Talking about his Street romance, Sean said: “I’ve been filming with Georgia May Foote recently and had my first-ever on-screen kiss which made all my friends very jealous. She’s amazing. “He sees Katy with Max and that opens the door for Callum. “It’s another way for him to manipulate people and to gain power. As soon as he sees a beautiful girl looking after his son he thinks ‘Oh I’ll have some of that’.” He added: “It’s still very early days in the relationship. He’s a power guy but there is a sense of vulnerability with him too. “And when it comes to Max we’ll start to see that. I want it to be a love-hate thing with him.” Meanwhile, the actor says he can’t believe the reaction he’s had from fans since he first arrived in Weatherfield. He told us: “The reaction I’ve had from the public has been unbelievable. “I still take public transport in Manchester and I see a lot of people double-taking me on the tram. “Then I’ll forget and get paranoid and wonder if I’ve got something on my head. And then I remember, oh yeah I was on Coronation Street last night. “I’ve had lovely messages on Twitter – although they can get quite raunchy too. Some of them are unprintable. “I had to put a tweet out the other day saying ‘Thanks for all the comments you raunchy lot but what about my acting’?”
