Search Jobs | Submit an Application | About Us | Home Pre K Counts Director Location: York, PA Salary Range: DOE Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Benefits: Yes Employment Type: Full Time Department: Child Care-Market Description: Responsible for administration of the Pre K Counts program including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as for establishing relationships with community health and welfare services. Supervises child-care staff and program volunteers and acts as staff associate to parent groups. The Pre-K Counts Director will attend to multiple aspects of children’s behavior, interest and needs; to the environment; and to the schedule, groupings and supervision with the goal of providing high-quality experience to the children in the classroom. The Pre-K Counts Director is responsible for planning individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, emotional and physical development in accordance with the policies and the philosophy of the YWCA. Use developmentally appropriate practices consistent with the expectations of NAEYC and designed to meet the children’s assessed needs. This position is at 320 E Market St, York location, Monday-Friday, typically from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Duties: Implement programming in accordance with the YWCA mission and the Department of Public Welfare requirements by performing the following duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Program Coordination: Coordinate the overall Pre K Counts Schedules, Program, Recruitment, Monitor, Budget, Reporting Outcomes and Administrative Paperwork. Facilitate curriculum, assessment, and work sampling. • Design Enriched & Learning Environment: Teachers work as a team to design an environment that protects children’s health and safety, helps reduce challenging and disruptive behavior, stimulate learning, and provides easy access to learning material and experiences. • Creating Caring Communities for Learning: Teachers develop a responsive and predictable community in their knowledge of children’s home and classroom lives inform their teaching and to ensure that children are protected from bias and discrimination. • Supervising Children: Teachers follow requirements for the safe supervision of children by sight and sound at all times. The physical design of the indoor and outdoor environments as well as attention to the factors that affect children’s health and safety are essential to proper supervision. • Responding to Children’s Interest and Needs: The teacher will develop a variety of ways to respond to the interests and needs of children. • Making Learning Meaningful for all Children: Teachers are responsive to what children know and what they want to learn. • Build an environment using emergent curriculum to Deepen Children’s Understanding and Build Their Skills and Knowledge: Teachers incorporate a broad range of approaches and diverse teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning needs of the children in their classroom. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises all on site Pre-K Counts employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Minimum education requirements is a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field allowed by the organization’s guidelines. M. Ed preferred. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Must assist with maintaining Keystone Stars and accreditation. • Must maintain Professional Development Record as per State of PA. • Adhere to Keystone Stars and NAEYC criteria and guidelines. • Must have knowledge of and ability to support Creative Curriculum and Work Sampling Systems. • Must have knowledge of reporting through Pelican for programming, budgeting and the grant requirements. • Obtain required continuing education hours and maintain necessary documentation. • Conduct weekly team meetings for classroom planning, child individualization and task delegation. • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license; Criminal record check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and vehicle. • Ability to identify and respond to the needs and concerns of women, including their self-perception, social/cultural environment, and factors that can be used to bring about change. • Proven ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socioeconomic background. JOB DESCRIPTION: Community Initiatives Coordinator, Southeast Regional Key Statement of General Purpose: The Community Initiatives Coordinator (CIC) is responsible for the communications, outreach, and marketing activities of the SERK and supports monitoring and evaluation of contracted services including PD, TA and LEARN to ensure the accomplishment of SERK’s mission of improving quality in child care throughout the southeast region. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Create and implement region-wide communications strategy to increase provider awareness of SERK services, increase stakeholder awareness of the Keystone STARS program and increase parent and consumer awareness of the importance of quality in early childhood education. Develop and implement communication strategies to assure that early learning practitioners are aware of professional development, technical assistance, and funding opportunities available through Keystone STARS. Maintain up-to-date information on all professional development and technical assistance activities in the region (including those not funded by the SERK). Oversee intake, data management and outcomes reporting for ECE providers requesting STARS Technical Assistance, Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation, Child Care Health Consultation and Infant Toddler support. Report on trends and make recommendations to improve efficiency and strengthen TA and support services at the SERK. Supervise the implementation of the Early Childhood Mental Health project including three consultants. Supervise the implementation of the Infant Toddler Specialist project including two specialists; Supervise and support the Community Initiatives Specialist in his/her work. Schedule and document PD/TA and LEARN contractor meetings. Oversee the LEARN contracts, working in partnership with the PA Key. Issue weekly e-blast communication. Update/maintain organizational promotional materials including brochures, flyers, and website; Conduct outreach to ensure that providers, consumers, businesses, and policy makers in the region are familiar with Keystone STARS and the regional quality benchmarks; Collaborate with PHMC Communications staff on the development of promotional materials, website, press releases, etc. Work with Keystone STARS Specialists in the facilitation of Regional Advisory Group meetings; Facilitate periodic meetings with stakeholders in and out of the region. Participate in statewide systems-building activities related to TA and other STARS supports. Attend community meetings, conferences, and workshops to present information when needed. Support PD team in planning and implementing PD conferences and special events; Create event promotion and marketing tools. Support SERK in business development and fundraising activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Competencies: Ability to work independently and also to effectively function as a member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively and work productively with employees, practitioners, government agencies, professional organizations, and higher education in a positive, pleasant, professional, and productive manner in writing, by telephone, on- line and in-person. Organizational Relationships: The Community Initiatives Coordinator reports directly to and is supervised by the PD/TA Manager. S/He supervises three Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants two Infant Toddler Specialists, and a Community Initiatives Specialist. S/He works in coordination with the Trainer/Curriculum Specialist and the PD/TA Assistant. He/She interacts with all Key staff; as well as practitioners and contractors and collaborates so as to enhance services to early care and education providers. The position is full-time, 100% FTE. The position of Professional Development Coordinator operates from PHMC’s main offices at 260 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required. Knowledge of career advising human resource practices, and marketing, public relations or similar communications and outreach experience. Previous supervisory experience. Three to five years of related experience, including use/management of databases. Other Requirements: This position includes the normal physical demands associated with work in an office environment, including bending, lifting, carrying. This position requires independent travel to meetings throughout the 3-county region. This position may require participation in evening or weekend meetings/events.
