Search Of The Scriptures Daily Reading A few years ago in one of my Bible classes, the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask a question to see what answer some of the students would have. The question: What kind of person is it that searches the scriptures to find how they can sin against God and get forgiven for it, rather than search the scriptures to find how to please God and be blessed? There mixed answers and I believe some of the students pondered over the question to see if, maybe, they had done the same thing. My wife and I were shopping in an antique shop once and found a wall ornament that says, “HOW MUCH SIN CAN I GET AWAY WITH AND STILL GO TO HEAVEN?” We bought it because it is so befitting of the Church today. One day we had someone come by and saw it and asked us, what is the answer. Many times I have heard or come in contact with in my 36 years of ministry are people trying to find loopholes in Gods Word, rather than take Him for what He said. These are the people who twist the Word of God only so they can continue the sin they are doing and not feel guilty about it. Yes we do have forgiveness of sins, but is that a reason to deliberately sin against a Holy God? One of the most insulting things I hear is that the sin they committed isnt the unforgivable sin. Ask yourself that same question: do you search the scriptures to find a way to sin and get away with it? Yes God forgives, but punishment is on the way. Passage Numbers 14:18:(NIV) The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; Passage Colossians 3:25:(NIV) Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. Passage Isaiah 29:13:(NIV) The Lord says: These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men. Passage Mark 7:9:(NIV) And he said to them: You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
