Seasonal Attunement The principles of Chinese Medicine conclude that life is entwined in a series of seasons and cycles and that each season represents an element, which becomes more dominant in particular paths (parts) of our life. The dominant element impacts us on an emotional and physical level, with the greatest impact reflected in our skin. Skin is in a continual process of repair and regeneration as it journeys through the seasons and this treatment is a truly holistic series of rejuvenation rituals, ‘seasonal attunements’, designed to respond to its needs in each phase, helping to ease the transition from one season to the next. The therapy includes facial/body acupuncture, meditation & sound therapy, Gua Sha (where skin is pressured with a round-edged instrument to help promote healthy circulation), Jade Roller (the coolness of the jade helps to tighten the skin and close pores), herbal compresses, moxabustion (warms the area, helping blood flow more smoothly) and Qi-rejuvenation massage (based on the ancient practice of Tui Na – which helps improve circulation and lymph flow). These techniques, applied with unique herbs, botanical extracts and healing seasonal oils, work to not only help repair any past damage, but most importantly to prepare for the new season and the changes it brings.
