Seat Begins Testing 2016 SUV Inspired by IBX Concept Seat will no longer be denied an SUV as its VW Group masters have given the Spaniards the green light to develop their very first model of the kind. After confirming plans to build an SUV in March this year, Seat rolled out a test-mule wearing what appears to be a modified body from the Leon compact hatch with a noticeably taller front end to evaluate the cars MQB underpinnings. While this mule doesnt tell us anything about the SUVs styling, we know that it will be influenced by the 2011 Seat IBX Concept that measured 4.26 meters long, 1.80 meters wide and 1.62 meters tall. The production car will most certainly be offered with a five-door body and possibly, a three-door version in the likes of the IBX study. Powering the SUV will be VWs latest three and four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines paired to manual or dual clutch transmissions, and either FWD or AWD. Seat will produce the car at sister company Skodas plant in the Czech Republic.
