Second Annual MadWool Knitting Retreat with Shannon Okey- November 15-17, 2013, at the Mercy Center, 167 Neck Rd., Madison, CT 203-245-5921 MadWool favorite Shannon Okey returns! The Knitgrrl and owner of Cooperative Press will be back from Cleveland, OH to teach a weekend workshop at the beautiful Mercy Center. She is not teaching this year at Stitches East, so this is her only area appearance! We are fortunate to have the Seascape building- a private home with every room overlooking the water, donated by Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue-all to ourselves! The rooms are beautiful, and the living room is bright and spacious and perfect for a group knit-in! Two night minimum, day camper rates, and teaching fees will all be in the next newsletter. The theme of this workshop will be ‘Felt Fabulous’. Shannon will lead us through an original hat pattern that will be heavy on technique (steeking, cables, bobbles, and more), yet be accessible to beginners as well as more advanced knitters. She will show us how to felt our knitted project correctly, and how to finish your felted project. We will have the use of a washer and dryer, so we can see first hand how to felt correctly.
