Second Nature enviro fest is Saturday NORTH PORT -- The city of North Port’s Second Nature Environmental Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, 6968 Reisterstown Road. Let nature be your teacher. Talk to park naturalists about Florida’s diverse habitats and wildlife. Learn the rules and regulations for fishing and hunting through Florida Fish and Wildlife. Discover Florida’s history and where to go fossil hunting with local archaeologists. Speak to Master Gardeners about how to rid yourself of pesky bugs in the garden. Enjoy make-and-take crafts for the children, live music and lunch under an oak tree canopy. Interpretive trail walks will be given at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., led by the Peace River Audubon Society. Demonstrations include a tree pruning Q&A by the city arborist at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a nature photography workshop at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Manic Organic/organic gardening at 11:30 a.m., and archery instruction at noon. Scheduled entertainment will be singer/guitarist Bobby J. at 10 a.m. and 1:40 p.m., puppeteer Pamela Burch at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and folk/acoustic band Citrus Roots at 11:30 a.m. Free admission. More than 30 vendors are expected, and “swag bags” will be given to the first 250 attendees.
